Microwave Ablation
Medical
Application Overview
Microwave ablation equipment, belonging to one of the microwave therapeutic instruments, is mostly used in microwave treatment of tumours. The principle of microwave ablation is to use a microwave source to focus the microwave energy on the diseased tissues through a special heating device to cause coagulative necrosis, so as to achieve the purpose of ‘burning’ the tumour cells. The solid-state power source (i.e., the microwave generator) is the core component of Wattsine's microwave ablation equipment.
Application Details

Microwave therapy is a kind of high-frequency electrotherapy formally applied in clinic only in the late 1940s with the development of modern radio technology. And microwave ablation belongs to one kind of microwave therapy.

The principle of microwave ablation is actually the same as that of ‘microwave oven’, which is to cause coagulative necrosis of tumour tissues through microwave heating, so as to achieve the purpose of ‘burning’ tumour cells. The specific process is to use 915 MHz or 2450 MHz two frequencies, under the guidance of CT and other imaging technologies, a microwave needle with a diameter of only 2mm is punctured into the tumour tissue through the skin, and under the action of the microwave electromagnetic field, the polar molecules such as water molecules and protein molecules within the tumour tissue produce extremely high-speed vibration, resulting in the collision and friction between molecules, which generates a high temperature of 60~150 ℃ in a short period of time. 60~150 ℃ in a short time, which leads to coagulative necrosis of cells. As the radiator will be microwave energy concentrated in a certain range, so it can effectively radiate to the required target area, to avoid damage to the surrounding important organs. Microwave ablation has the advantages of short ablation time, large ablation range, small influence by blood perfusion, low local recurrence rate and so on.

Measure the quality of a microwave microwave ablation instrument, whether to achieve the desired therapeutic effect and the use of safety, the main technical parameters should be examined include operating frequency, output power, radiation power density, radiator voltage VSWR and so on.

Most of the microwave ablation instruments produced in the current market use magnetron as the source of microwave generation, which leads to most of the microwave ablation instruments have unstable output power, low efficiency of the radiator, and insufficient safety and other shortcomings.

The above problems do not exist with Wattsine's solid-state power source, which is based on pure semiconductor technology. Compared with conventional technology, the solid-state power source, as a microwave generator for microwave ablation instruments, has a stable and continuously adjustable microwave power output, which is a key advantage in terms of precision control, high power, and higher efficiency.
